WHO WE ARE

EHT Traceries is organized into the Research and Preservation Division and the Survey and Documentation Division under the leadership of President/CEO Emily Eig and Directors Laura Hughes and Laura Trieschmann.

The professional staff includes both architectural historians and historians. All hold Master's degrees in historic preservation, architectural history, and/or history and meet the National Park Service’s qualifications for architectural historians (36 CFR 61 Appendix A).

Senior staff members also serve as expert witnesses before many preservation and zoning commissions in Washington, DC, and greater metropolitan area.

EHT Traceries is recognized as a Small/Disadvantaged/Minority-Owned Business Enterprise by the Maryland Department of Transportation, the Virginia Department of Transportation, and the District of Columbia Department of Public Works.

Emily Hotaling Eig

Ms. Eig is the founder and president of EHT Traceries, Inc.. While her technical knowledge is focused on late 19th and 20th century buildings, she also has a thorough understanding of current historic preservation issues.

Ms. Hughes provides research and consultation services regarding the preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of historic buildings.

Ms. Trieschmann directs the survey of historic properties, focusing on the identification, evaluation, documentation, and nomination of historic resources and properties.
