Downtown Action Plan

District of Columbia Office of Planning
Washington, D.C.

"Strengthen and Protect Existing Shaw Community" Downtown Action Plan, Housing section , 2000.

As one of the most beautiful cities in the world, characterized by symbolic vistas, historic sites, and residential neighborhoods, Washington D.C. should offer a dramatic, lively and exciting downtown. The Downtown Action Plan renews the vision and planning goals for this monumental city and looks ahead to what the Downtown should be after the first two decades of the 21st century.

EHT Traceries, as preservation consultant to EDAW, Inc., prepared the Historic Preservation Assessment sections of the Downtown Action Plan for the District of Columbia. The firm worked closely with the project team and the Downtown Action Task Force through the planning and community workshop process. The Downtown Action Plan was designed to respond to new developments and ideas within the context of the Living Downtown concept, and to preserve and enhance the residential neighborhoods adjacent to the new convention center.
