Compliance Assistance
The Interstate Commerce Commission Modernization

WASHINGTON, D.C.

The Interstate Commerce Commission Building, part of the grand design of the Federal Triangle, is undergoing an extensive rehabilitation to make the building compliant with today's health, life-safety, and accessibility codes.

Completed in 1935, the group of buildings which include the Interstate Commerce Commission, Departmental Auditorium and Customs Service (originally Department of Labor) are designed in the Beaux-Art style and epitomize the vision for a grand and architecturally impressive Nation's Capital.

Located between 12th and 14th Streets, N.W., the buildings present a colonnaded and richly sculptured facade to Constitution Avenue.

EHT Traceries, Inc. provided historical research and documentation for the General Service Administration's "modernization" project.

The firm applied knowledge of the original architect Arthur Brown, Jr. and an understanding of the structure and operations of the Federal Government's building branch, to assist the architects and engineers in this monumental rehabilitation effort.

EHT Traceries located original drawings, researched and indexed original documents, organized and maintained an extensive retrieval system, and provided technical assistance relating to preservation issues.
